Improvers: Six Week Sewing Course 'Simple Jacket' Tuesdays 7pm-9pm Starting 3rd September

A six week course of sewing lessons at Catkin & Scraps, Ulverston. The course starts on the 3rd of September 2024 at 7pm.

This is aimed at improving sewists who are learning how to make garments.

In this course we will be making a simple, unlined unisex jacket. The pattern we'll be using is the Friday Pattern Co. 'Ilford Jacket', which has two different length options and two sleeve options. You'll learn lots of useful skills such as how to attach a simple collar, sewing buttonholes and pockets, and if you choose you can learn to make a sleeve placket too. 

If you would prefer to choose a different pattern, please check with me and I can help you find something suitable.

The pattern will be included in the price of the course, but you’ll need to buy the fabric, pre-wash and iron it before the first lesson.

If you can manage to pop into the shop before the class starts to pick up your pattern I can show you which types of fabric would be suitable and we can determine how much you'll need. Our opening hours are Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat 10am-4pm.

There are a maximum of four spaces so it is worth booking as soon as you know you want to join in to secure your place.

Each week you will have a two-hour lesson in our Making Space, with full use of our Janome computerised sewing machines and overlockers. Tea and coffee is available and there is a changing room to try on your makes.

Basic sewing supplies are available to use, but we do advise to bring your own kit if you have one so you don't have to wait to use the communal ones.

The workshop is fairly accessible, but if you have any special requirements as far as access or seating goes please do get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

We only run these workshops if enough places are filled. If you change your mind or circumstances mean that you can no longer take part, please let us know as soon as possible. You can cancel your booking up to two weeks before the class is due to start, after that we will only refund you if we are able to fill your place.
