ABOUT

Catkin & Scraps is a small sewing shop based in Ulverston on the edge of the UK’s beautiful Lake District.

We have a strong focus on good business ethics, sustainability and inclusivity - we want everyone to feel welcome when they visit us!

We sell a joyful range of high quality dressmaking fabrics made from mostly natural fibres, with plenty of eco-friendly options.

We also offer a hand-picked selection of indie sewing patterns and a small but expanding range of high quality sewing tools and haberdashery. Occasionally we make some items for sale ourselves, using up small remnants and scraps of fabric that would otherwise go to waste.

We have been established and growing slowly over several years and we dispatch our (plastic-free) orders all around the world (recently with the exception of a few EU countries that have introduced restrictive registration requirements.)

At the moment Catkin & Scraps is a one-woman business run by mum of two, Geertje (also known as Rita due to reasons of pronounciation).

Geertje worked managing a local fabric shop for many years until its owner retired and she realised she needed to retain her fabric fix somehow. She has a particular love for well-thought out, inclusive indie sewing patterns, Liberty Fabrics - especially some of the more unusual ones - and textiles with pleasing textures that are also sustainable, such as linen, organic crossweaves and handwoven cloth.
