One-Day Sewing Workshop 'Sewing with Knits' Wednesday 21st October 10am-3pm

Want to improve your skills with sewing jersey? This workshop is a great skill builder if you already have some experience with it (for example you've done my introduction workshop or you already had a go at sewing with it yourself.) Fairly experienced sewists that have never used jersey before are also welcome, but this course is not suitable for beginner sewists.

We'll spend the day learning to sew a simple pair of knickers in jersey knit - I'll show you how to do this on the sewing machine and/or the overlocker according to your preference and you'll discover how easy and speedy jersey can be to work with. You may even get more than one pair done depending on how speedy you are!

The price includes your sewing pattern and elastics but not your fabric. I will have the pattern here for you to collect ahead of time or on the day, and if possible you'll also need to buy your fabric ahead of time and pre-wash it. I would advise you to choose a cotton jersey with added elastane and four-way stretch unless you already have experience sewing with knits, in which case you could also go for more difficult types like viscose jersey.

We'll be using Jalie 'Barbara' which includes girls and women's sizes from age 2 up to a 2XL (137cm hips.) If you need a larger size I have an alternative pattern that you can use which goes up to a 155cm hip.

There are a maximum of four spaces so don't wait too long to book your spot!

You'll spend the day in our Making Space, with full use of our Janome computerised sewing machines and overlockers. Tea and coffee is available but you will need to bring your own lunch - or get something during the lunch break, we're right in the town centre!

The Making Space is fairly accessible, but if you have any special requirements as far as access or seating goes please do get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

We only run these workshops if enough places are filled. If you change your mind or circumstances mean that you can no longer take part, please let us know as soon as possible. You can cancel your booking up to one week before the class is due to start, after that we will only refund you if we are able to fill your place.
