One-Day Sewing Workshop 'Sewing with Knits' Wednesday 22nd October 10am-4pm

Want to learn how to sew jersey? This workshop is a great introduction to sewing with this stretchy fabric, using either an ordinary domestic sewing machine or an overlocker.

We'll spend the day learning to sew a simple t-shirt in jersey knits - I'll show you how to do this on both the sewing machine and the overlocker and you'll discover how easy and speedy jersey can be to sew up by potentially making not one but TWO t-shirts! 

This workshop is suitable for improving sewists, ideally you'll need to have a few woven garments under your belt before you sew with jersey.

The price includes your sewing pattern but not the fabric - you'll need to buy that ahead of time and pre-wash it. I would advise you to make one in French Terry and one in cotton or linen jersey unless you already have experience sewing with knits, in which case you could go for more difficult types like viscose jersey.

This particular pattern is a women's t-shirt that goes up to a size 4XL. If you need a larger size or a men's pattern, please get in touch and I'll source an alternative (though you may only be able to make one tee if the pattern is more complex.)

There are a maximum of four spaces so don't wait too long to book your spot!

You'll spend the day in our Making Space, with full use of our Janome computerised sewing machines and overlockers. Tea and coffee is available but you will need to bring your own lunch - or get something during the lunch break, we're right in the town centre!

The Making Space is fairly accessible, but if you have any special requirements as far as access or seating goes please do get in touch and we'll see what we can do.

We only run these workshops if enough places are filled. If you change your mind or circumstances mean that you can no longer take part, please let us know as soon as possible. You can cancel your booking up to one week before the class is due to start, after that we will only refund you if we are able to fill your place.
