A fine organic cotton batiste in pure white.
Batiste (also known as cambric) is an heirloom fabric and was traditionally used for ecclesiastical wear, christening gowns, fine shirts, underwear, shirt frills, cravats, collars and cuffs, handkerchiefs, and infant wear.
It is a lovely summery weight that works well for modern applications too, such as very light shirts, dresses, tunics, tops and blouses, baby and children's wear, sleepwear and undergarments, as well as heirloom sewing, costuming and dyeing.
It is similar to cotton lawn and cotton voile but is softer and more drapeable than either of these.
It is airy, fine, soft, drapes well and is quite sheer so will need to be lined when worn as an outer garment.
