Sew House Seven: #130 Free Range Slacks UK 4-24 OR 22-38

A paper sewing pattern by Sew House Seven.

The Free Range Slacks pattern is an easy to wear trouser with a stylish, elastic high waist, deep front pockets and optional back pockets. They were designed with linen in mind, but I have made them in our slubby linen-viscose mix and they are excellent in that too. In fact, this is such an great pattern that you'll want to make it in all sorts of fabrics!

There are two options - a tapered leg version and a straight, cropped version. Both have an elastic high waist, side panels, front pockets that are topstiched in place from behind, and optional back patch pockets. The tapered legs look great rolled up so the finished garment measurements show rolled and unrolled measurements and the instructions include options for French and flat-fell leg seams.

Suitable for advanced beginner pattern.
The instructions on this pattern are very good indeed, we particularly love this pattern for the high quality of finishing; you will be shown where to understitch and topstitch, use bar tacks to strengthen the pockets and if you wish learn how to do French and flat-fell seam finishes.

I have made lots of Free Range Slacks - so far it is are hands down my favourite trouser pattern! I especially adore them in washed linen. BUT as part of your pre fabric cutting measurement checks, do have a look at the height of the rise. Although I am quite short I don't usually have much of an issue with the rise but on this pattern I had to shorten it by a whopping 4 inches!

Choose between UK sizes 4-24 (US 0-20) or Curvy UK sizes 22-38 (US 18-34)

Fit Guide: The Standard size range is fit on a base size 8 that is 5’6”-5’-7” tall and grades very slightly in height.
The Curvy size range are fit on a base size 24 that is 5’6”-5’7” tall and does not grade in height.
